Introduction to Play Therapy

Course Description
Participants will be introduced to basic concepts including play room setup, portable playrooms, and toy selection. Child-Centered Play Therapy will be explored as an initial introduction into play therapy.

Learning Objectives

1. Prepare a Child-Centered Play Therapy session.
2. Create a play therapy room.
3. Create a travel play therapy room.
4. Demonstrate 3 or more key aspects of Child-Centered Play Therapy.
5. Demonstrate 3 or more appropriate facilitating responses in Child-Centered Play Therapy.
6. Demonstrate 1 or more ways to set limits in the play room.
7. Analyze 1 or more ways to involve the family in the play therapy process.
8. Prepare a directive play therapy session.
