Course Description
This course will first explore the history and origins of play therapy. Participates will engage via lecture, group discussion, and experiential learning. Professionals will be introduced to past and current research studies pointing to the effectiveness and limitations of play therapy. Participants will also explore the Therapeutic Powers of Play.

- Critique 3 or more results of play deficits in children.
- Discuss 3 or more skills and resources that are developed through play.
- Identify 3 or more key players in the early history of play therapy.
- Demonstrate 2 or more ways how the history and development of play therapy influence play therapy today.
- Analyze the Therapeutic Powers of Play.
- Describe 3 key aspects of play therapy.
- Describe where to find research on play therapy as well as cite 3 or more ways to obtain that research in the future.
